Tahun 1928, berganti nama menjadi National Tsinghua University dengan motto "Self-Discipline and Social Commitment. Sekarang THU menduduki ranking 40 dunia menurut THES - QS World University Rankings.

　With its rich legacy and recent rapid development, Tsinghua University now boasts a 96 year history of excellence. Tsinghua’s progress throughout its history has been closely linked with that of our country. We are keenly aware of the high expectations and trust placed in us by our nation and the Chinese people. We will endeavor for the future to become a world-class university and to contribute to the creation of a prosperous China and a harmonious world.
　　In 1993, the Chinese government announced the 211 Project to give a significant increase in financial support to 100 of China’s universities so that some of them could achieve world-class status in the 21st century. In response to this initiative, Tsinghua mapped out a strategic three-phase development plan covering the 27 year period from 1994 to 2020. There are two milestone years: 2011 is the year of the 100th anniversary of Tsinghua, while in 2020 the economic development of the whole nation will reach a comprehensive milestone. In the first nine-year period, between 1994 and 2002, we focused on adjusting the structure of academic disciplines to put in place a solid academic foundation. During those years, Tsinghua established or restored many schools and departments, including law, journalism, public management, medicine, and the arts, which are essential to promote the further development of interdisciplinary studies. In the second nine-year period, from 2003 to 2011, our priority is to achieve breakthroughs in some fields. By the end of this period, several key disciplines at Tsinghua will be recognized as centers of world excellence by peers in the global academic community. The third nine-year period is from 2012 to 2020. During this phase the overall objective of the strategic plan is to build Tsinghua into a world-class university.
　 　In 2006, we achieved great results in our work and made new progress toward our goal of becoming a world-class university. Through the efforts of Tsinghua faculty and staff, the university has shaped steadily the organization of its disciplines, improved the quality of its teaching, achieved enhancement in its scientific research and faculty development, and increased its social impact. In the pursuit of our mission, we achieved our goals as set out in the 211 Project for China’s 10th Five-Year Plan period, and we formulated our objectives for Tsinghua’s future development.
　 　Our remarkable achievements last year, let us not forget, stem from the support of our country and society. We are encouraged and inspired by the expectations and trust our people place in us. We are gratified that many excellent students make Tsinghua the first choice for their studies. Corporate donations from home and abroad and generous individual support for Tsinghua provide a firm foundation for the ongoing development of our education platform. On behalf of Tsinghua University, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to all of you.
　 　Looking back, we can take great satisfaction in our achievements. Looking to the future, we must not forget the heavy responsibilities we shoulder. In 2007, following the “Three Nine-Year Plan” strategy to build Tsinghua into a world class university, we will make talent cultivation our basic task. We also aim to continue to make further innovations in our academic disciplines, teaching, research, faculty construction, and reform of our administrative practices and procedures. In the spirit of the scientific concept of development, we will pay particular attention to further enrich and enhance our campus culture. We will endeavor, finally, to combine Tsinghua’s tradition and spirit with its recent development.
　 　Let’s bear in mind the Tsinghua motto of “Self-discipline and Social Commitment,”-- we need to work hard and devote ourselves to the goal of elevating Tsinghua to a world-class university. If we achieve our goal, we will add a memorable page to Tsinghua's 96 year history.
